In each case, a local embroiderers’ guild chooses one of the suitable topics from the list provided. Subject matter and sources are discussed with the Tapestry Trust and the designer. Only in some cases will the subjects available be completely ‘about’ the area that a guild is from. In most cases though, the panel titles are about themes and events that apply to wider New Zealand. But we like to discretely include a bit of imagery from the particular guild’s immediate area.
